Introducing Verba

Overview

The Verba Recording System is a call recording, analysis and archive system suitable for enterprises and service providers using the latest integrated voice and data network technologies.

Due their flexibility and lower TCO, converged voice and data networks like VoIP are the best choice for organizations when building their telecommunication systems. Although VoIP technology is already a mature solution, the lack of affordable call recording support prevents its widespread acceptance for many applications.

Organizations may encounter the need for call recording in a number of different situations:

  • When calls represent valuable agreements,
  • When the quality of telephone interactions must be monitored, and
  • When security issues are to be considered.

Banks, insurance companies, brokerages, governmental organizations, service providers, and utility companies represent some of the companies for which call recording is important or even mandatory.

Benefits

Replay at any time from anywhere

Recorded calls can be searched for and played back at any time and from any location connected to the company Intra/Internet. The web based user interface enables users to replay recorded calls and administrators to change system parameters through a web browser without the need of installing any kind of client software.

Unique and effective functions

  • Multi-level access control. Privilege groups and permissions can be defined for users.
  • User-defined notes can be attached to ongoing or recorded calls. Attached notes can make searching more intelligent, faster, and easier.
  • Private call handling through the user interface.
  • Complex call (transfer, hold, conference) are through call sections.
  • Stereo recording. Users are able to play back call channels separately in order to increase distinctness.
  • XML support for Cisco IP phones. Functions like on-demand recording or private call handling never been as easy and user friendly as in Verba.
  • Enhanced storage management. Processes like archiving transcoding can be scheduled outstanding compression level with Speex codec (GSM-FR codec quality at 4 Kbps).

Outstanding sound quality

The quality of the recordings is much better with Verba compared to legacy (e.g. analogue) call logging devices. The reason is clear: no noise is incorporated during recording the original digital signals.

Single and multi site environment

Verba supports both single and multi site configurations. site with phone calls to be recorded has one or more Recording Servers (a recorder server) connected to LAN. At the main site, recorded call files and other call information are stored in the Media Repository (CC), which coordinates the LRs operation and functions as an archiving server.

In a one-site environment the LR and CC software components can be installed co-hosted on a single server.

VoIP technology

The VoIP recording technology enables far simpler installation, operation and maintenance than legacy solutions. Exploiting the VoIP data, Verba provides computer-telephony integration (CTI) functions expensive CTI products or development.

Verba editions

Verba Enterprise Edition

The Enterprise edition of Verba was initially designed for organizations located multiple sites. Each site has one or more Recording Server server, which record VoIP calls locally. Media Repository component can be found at the central site. This Verba version can help enterprises manage their call recording infrastructure in a centralized .

Verba Express Edition

The Express edition of Verba is offered to mid and small companies located on one site. The Verba components are installed on the same server. This version enables rapid deployment and cost effectiveness for customers who need a compact and reliable solution for their converged network.

Verba Desktop Edition

This version of Verba is able to record calls at IP extension. The recorder application is installed on the workstation, which is connected to the Ethernet interface of the IP phone. Recorded sound/video files are uploaded to the Media Repository after terminating the call. Verba Desktop edition can be a very powerful scenario, when e.g. a remote site has very few extensions and deploying a stand-alone Recording Server server is not (cost) effective.

Security

Security of recorded calls is ensured by a number of special features:

  • HTTPS web interface (optional) with user authentication provides secure communication between the Media Repository and the web clients.
  • Verba uses SSL authenticated channels between the Recording Servers and the Media Repository during file transfers
  • Multi-level access control mechanism (privilege groups, permissions, etc.) enables flexible adaptation of the enterprise s security and business rules.

Reliability

The Verba system is built on widely recognized, highly reliable PC server platforms from IBM, DELL, and HP (for detailed HW configurations and recommendations, please contact Verba). Increased system reliability can be achieved through redundant components ven if one recorderfail, the functionality of Verba is unaffected.
